According to figures released by the Gaziantep Governorate, the Zeugma Mosaic Museum alone welcomed 48,843 visitors over the 2026 Eid al-Adha (Kurban Bayramı) holiday. That number belongs to a single museum and is only a small part of the city's total movement in those days. During holiday weeks, three separate streams usually head to Gaziantep: people returning to their hometown, people visiting relatives, and people who have turned their holiday plan towards the city. Because all three start at the same time, finding daily rental apartments for holidays in Gaziantep is nothing like the rest of the year.
When should you book?
The search starts as soon as the holiday dates are known. Apartments close to the centre with room for a family are the first to go. Two weeks before the holiday, the options left are usually either far away or small. The search begins the week the holiday date is announced, and the central apartments are booked that same week. Booking a month ahead is not early during a bayram, it is simply normal. If you are late, the options in the city centre run out, the search area widens by itself, and guests end up staying in a neighbourhood they did not want.
How do prices behave?
You would expect prices to rise with demand, but the real problem is availability, not price. When there is no apartment with the right capacity left, guests either split the group or move out of the city, and for a family staying in two separate places the total cost always ends up higher than the price difference of a single apartment. That is why it pays to look at capacity first and price second when planning a holiday stay. Minimum stays are a separate topic. Ask from the start whether a minimum number of nights applies in busy weeks, because a one-night plan is not accepted on every date.
Travelling with a large group
Most holiday guests do not travel alone. Our 1-bedroom apartments sleep up to five; for four or five guests the nightly rate is 4,000 lira, which drops to 800 lira per person with five. For couples, a studio costs 2,000 lira a night. We describe how wedding and engagement groups organise their stay in our group accommodation article. A group of eight to ten needs two 1-bedroom apartments, 8,000 lira a night in total, and that means two free apartments in the same building on the same dates. All five of our apartments are in the same building and together they host 16 guests. Mention that you want several apartments in the same building in your first message, because scattered apartments cannot meet that request. The same goes for guests visiting relatives whose homes have no spare room. This group usually calls at the last minute and has to decide in the week when choice is narrowest.
Check-in, check-out and busy days
A family that sets off on the morning of the holiday arrives in the city in the afternoon. Check-in is at 14:00 and check-out at 12:00, and in busy periods these times are hard to stretch, because the two hours between guests leaving and arriving on the same day are barely enough for cleaning. If you will arrive early, ask in advance about leaving your luggage. Guests with an evening bus or flight on the day they leave should request late check-out when they book.
Plan your sightseeing around the crowds
On the first day of the holiday, museums and bazaars hit their busiest hours. The second and third days are calmer. Some of the shopkeepers in the Coppersmiths' Bazaar do not open on the first day, so it makes more sense to leave shopping for day two. Guests staying in an apartment near the centre can use this difference, heading out early in the morning and coming back home at noon. A guest staying outside the city does not have that flexibility. Keep in mind that in holiday traffic, travel time can double compared with a normal day.
Is it also useful to know what will happen on which day of the holiday week? It is, because a guest who knows the busy hours gets through the same programme with half the fatigue. Our list of things to do in Gaziantep can help you plan.
More than 48,000 people visited a single museum during Eid al-Adha. The apartments where that crowd stayed were booked the week the holiday dates were announced.
